A Night of Takoyaki and New Connections | ito × MITSUWAYA Event Report
Hi everyone! It’s Shuhei from TESEN.
On September 26, we held a collaboration event with the wellness community ito at MITSUWAYA, our hostel in Osaka.
Unfortunately, we had to cancel the planned run because of the weather. That was a little disappointing, but the takoyaki party went ahead as planned! Here’s a look at the evening in photos.

Let’s get the party started! Introductions first, perhaps? Everyone seemed a little nervous at the beginning.
Meeting People Beyond Our Usual Circles
This collaboration brought together the communities of MITSUWAYA, TESEN’s share houses, and ito.
Osaka residents and travelers visiting the city gathered around the same tables for takoyaki—people whose paths might not otherwise have crossed. Alongside everyday conversations at our share houses, there are opportunities to meet new people beyond the house, too. We hope experiences like this become another enjoyable part of living at TESEN.
Making Takoyaki Is Part of the Fun
Watching them cook, then giving each one a little turn with a bamboo skewer.
Watching how the person next to you does it, then trying it yourself.
The Osaka locals certainly knew what they were doing!
Everyone gathered around the takoyaki makers, cooking together and getting to know one another.

With takoyaki in hand, people chatted around the tables and struck up conversations with those nearby.
The photos capture plenty of these relaxed, spontaneous moments.
Even when we come from different countries or speak different languages, we can still enjoy making and sharing a meal together. It was a warm, welcoming evening centered around an Osaka favorite: takoyaki.

New Connections to Enjoy Life in Osaka
People from many different countries and regions call TESEN’s share houses home. Some connections begin naturally when you see each other around the house, while others grow through events like this one.
Residents of all five TESEN share houses are welcome to join events at MITSUWAYA Hostel and events organized by ito!
Meet travelers and backpackers at MITSUWAYA, or make new friends at an ito event. Whichever TESEN share house you live in, there are opportunities to connect with people beyond your own home.
If an event catches your interest, feel free to join! Choose what fits your mood and schedule, and enjoy it at your own pace. We hope you’ll gradually find more people to share good times with as you settle into life in Osaka.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to the ito community! We’d love to get together for the run we missed another time, too.
