Experience Japanese Culture at Our Osaka Share House: A Matcha Event Connecting Travelers and Residents

One of the best parts of living in a share house isn’t just having a place to stay—it’s the people you meet.
Recently, we hosted a special matcha experience at our hostel, MITSUWAYA OSAKA, together with Nara-based matcha brand Matcha Mist.
The event brought together guests staying at MITSUWAYA and residents from TESEN SHARE HOUSE, creating a relaxed opportunity to experience Japanese culture and meet people from around the world.
More Than a Share House Community

Many share houses organize events for their residents, but opportunities to meet international travelers are much less common.
Because TESEN also operates HOSTEL MITSUWAYA OSAKA, our residents can naturally connect with visitors from all over the world.
During the event, conversations quickly started between people who had never met before. “I want to visit Nara next!” “Can you recommend a local restaurant in Osaka?” It was wonderful to see these conversations continue even after the workshop had finished.
Not Just Drinking Matcha, Experiencing It

The workshop introduced participants to the history of tea in Nara, the difference between matcha and green tea, and how to prepare matcha using a traditional bamboo whisk. Everyone then had the chance to make their own bowl of matcha and even create a matcha latte. For international guests, it was a memorable Japanese cultural experience. Even many Japanese participants discovered something new about matcha.

Living Here Means Joining Experiences Like This
At TESEN SHARE HOUSE, we regularly organize events that make everyday life in Osaka more enjoyable. Our goal isn’t simply to host events. We hope these moments lead to simple conversations like “Good morning” or “Welcome home” in the shared kitchen or living room. Whether you’re staying for a few months or longer, we want your time in Osaka to be filled with meaningful connections and unforgettable memories.

Looking for an International Share House in Osaka?
There are many share houses in Osaka, but at TESEN, we believe a home should be more than just a place to sleep. It’s a place where people from different countries meet, friendships begin, and everyday life becomes something you’ll remember long after leaving Japan.
If you’re looking for an international share house in Osaka where you can experience Japanese culture, build friendships with people from around the world and local Japanese residents, and become part of a warm, welcoming community, we’d love to welcome you.
