【TESEN-NOVEL Vol.15】 The Man Who Picks Up Cherry Blossoms

This is SHU, the management staff of Osaka Share House.

I work in a share house, and I’m writing a series of novels at my leisure.

“What kind of place is a share house? “What kind of life can I expect?

I’m writing this novel for those who are wondering.

It’s a fictionalized version of non-fiction.

Would you like to take a look at life in a share house with me?

I hope that the wonderful things that happen in a share house will reach as many people as possible.

I hope to bring a rich life to as many people as possible.

The cherry blossoms fell early again this year.
I feel like every year I say that this year’s cherry blossoms fell early.
To begin with, I don’t know how long it takes for the cherry blossoms to fall after they bloom.
Let me check it out.
Actually, it seems that cherry blossoms start to fall within 3~5 days after they are in full bloom.
That’s too early.
We think about the cherry blossoms that will be gone in such a short period of time.
This is the second spring since I came to the share house.
Last year, I went to see the cherry blossoms at Osaka Castle with all my share mates.
This year was a little different.
I went with my friend, who has been living in the share house the longest.
This is because last night, as we were eating dinner in the living room, he came over.
And he put a funny shaped piece of driftwood on the living room table.
He is trying to poke a twig of cherry blossom into the gap of the driftwood.
I wondered if it was an artificial flower. I thought, “But it looks like real cherry blossoms.
Where did they bring them back from?
I stopped eating my well-made omelette and boldly asked him.
What’s up with these cherry blossoms?”
Then he said bluntly.
It had fallen.”
It fell?
What do you mean, “fallen”?
I was stunned that he was saying something so random again.
How could a cherry branch have fallen?
I wondered if he might have cut down a cherry tree somewhere.
As expected, I thought that would be theft.
When I looked at him with some dismay, he said confidently, “I’m sorry, but I’m not sure I can do this.
I know where they are.
He is talking like he’s a year old.
I understand that he is bragging that he knows where the cherry blossoms are beautiful.
It is too profound to know where the cherry blossoms are falling.
Then, he continued, “I’m not sure I know where the cherry blossoms are falling.
“Well, why don’t we go pick up the cherry blossoms tomorrow?
“What do you mean you’re going to pick it up?” I said.

I’m stunned at how much they eat.
Does that mean we are going to see cherry blossoms together? I forced my mind to convert it into
Okay,” I replied.
This was last night.
And today we are in a park where the cherry blossoms are really in bloom.
It is not so well-known, there are few people, and the cherry blossoms are blooming beautifully.
You know a pretty good place, don’t you! I walk alongside them, inwardly curious.
While people passing by are looking up at the cherry blossoms in the sky
His eyes move over the people as if he were carefully licking them as they pass by.
They fell here yesterday, or so he still says.
Even if a twig of cherry blossom had fallen yesterday, such a strange miracle would not happen twice in two consecutive days.
Then a “crack” sound was heard over the two heads.
A sparrow was sucking the nectar of the cherry blossoms.
Then I really saw a small branch with a cherry blossom on it falling under the weight of the sparrow.
Falling down.
The sparrows stop sucking the nectar and take off into the sky in a startled reaction.
The cherry blossoms fall.
As if time has stopped.
I didn’t have to turn around to see him smiling.
The cherry blossoms are still blooming in my room.

While I’m saying that, society will be urging us to get on with our lives when summer arrives.
